OUR HISTORY

Founded by Ed Mason as "The Prop Shop" in 1989, Ed's son, Royce, became sole owner in 1995 and has since lead the company’s exponential growth. Joined by a talented group of seasoned professionals, Royce's Prop Shop is dedicated to excellent customer service and creating unforgettable events.

The company re-branded in 2020 to "RPS Events," and today offers clients an unparalleled level of event design, strategy, and production. A Portland-based company with national reach, RPS is distinguished among its peers and industry colleagues as a team with creative solutions, innovative designs, and detail-driven event strategy.

OUR TEAM

ROYCE MASON
President

A certified meeting planner and second-generation event producer, Royce Mason bought the original Prop Shop from his father, Ed Mason in 1993. Prior to becoming president of the Prop Shop, Royce utilized his education in civil engineering as a project superintendent for various East Coast commercial construction companies. Combining his knowledge of construction, design, and art, Royce developed a passion for producing events. Royce has won numerous local and national awards for his designs and commitment to the event industry, including Meeting Professionals International "Supplier of the Year," and the prestigious Event Solutions Magazine Spotlight Award for "Designer of the Year."

OCTAVIO PANTOJA
Director of Operations

Octavio Pantoja began his career in the event business more than 25 years ago. He started on the rental side of the industry before he was persuaded to join the Royce’s Prop Shop team in 2000 as lead foreman overseeing large projects on-site. As director of operations, Octavio is responsible for the crew and their successful installation of projects throughout the region and the U.S. Octavio's ability to solve problems and meet challenges is unparalleled, and he is consistently requested to run crews on-site, especially for our largest and most logistically complex jobs.

JENN COX
Event Strategist

Jennifer Cox is the Event Strategist for RPS Events. She has 20+ years in the meetings and event industry, as both a supplier and most recently as a planner. Jennifer is a past-president and long-time member of MPI Oregon, and a past-president of HSMAI Oregon. She was awarded the MPI Oregon Supplier of the Year award, and was received the “Partner Choice Award” by Travel Portland.

Originally from Buffalo NY, Jennifer has lived in Portland since 1997. She is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan and has been a Portland Trail Blazers fan since long before moving here (since the 89/90 season). She loves exploring and “playing tourist” around the state. Her favorite places are anywhere in wine country, and Ashland Oregon for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

JUSTIN DEAN
Creative Director

Justin Dean began his career with Royce's Prop Shop about 10 years ago as a member of the production crew, and quickly established himself as an integral part of the team. After becoming an event producer in 2014, Justin has continued to develop his talents and now oversees hundreds of events per year. Justin specializes in events that require custom fabrication and the creation of new and unique design pieces. He greatly enjoys working with his clients to design and build items that perfectly fit their vision.

ELENA LARRABEE
Creative Director

Elena Larrabee has a passion for design - whether it's the event itself or the software that makes it happen, Elena loves a good challenge and the satisfaction of solving a problem. During her time at RPS Events, Elena has been the producer on creative projects large and small, from complex corporate events to extravagant multi-day weddings. In addition to her work on event design, Elena also completely overhauled the company's software systems in 2017, building and continuously improving a custom project management program made specifically to suit the unique needs of RPS Events. She also serves as the in-house graphic and web designer, copy-editor, and technical support person. Elena beings an eye for good design from multiple perspectives to every project in which she's involved.

KELSEY HOOD
Production Manager

With nearly 10 years of experience, Kelsey has arranged everything from setup to teardown for more private and corporate events than she can count — from weddings to industry award ceremonies, or baby showers to professional development conferences, you name it, she’s done it! Kelsey previously served as the Event and Program Coordinator for the Oregon Association of Nurseries, a green industry nonprofit serving the nursery and greenhouse business community. She planned and coordinated the logistics for all their events, including off-site annual meetings, conventions, and fundraising tournaments, as well as the Farwest Show — the largest B2B trade show in the West with nearly 400 exhibitors and 5,000+ attendees.

 

There is nothing Kelsey loves more than décor and transforming a space. Her acute attention to detail, ability to turn a vision into reality and resourcefulness are reliable assets she brings to every project. She’ll move a house into your event for you, quite literally. Just ask.
